Nothing much to say, if you ever thought of programming for Netscape (iPlanet) Servers, you need that one and may be just that one. I have left comments from Richard Careaga:<< Finally, a useful reference for NSAPI. (Don't let the title fool you.) Devoto has reviewed a draft of the manuscript. We've been waiting for this for the past two years. It's an encyclopaedia of everything you wish that you'd been able to find out from the documentation, the newsgroups, the online documentation, and a direct connection to the angels. Short of having your own Stunt Programmer at your beck and call, this will get you on your way to tweaking Communcations, Commerce, FastTrack, or Enterprise to serve it your way. >>
This an old book and out-of-print but it was the only book on NSAPI programming until Kaveh published his one. It provides also a coverage of ISAPI and SEREF programming. The book is a more a tutorial on how to write a specific NSAPI function (AuthTrans, NameTrans, etc.) than a developer references. I recommend this one for anyone wishing to start programming NSAPI. The book is based on a lot of examples (in C++) and includes a CD.
Though this is not a book on NSAPI, Apache API has some similitudes as they share some roots (NSCA/Rob McCool). The book is mostly about mod_perl but all the lessons it carries on design are worth reading.

If you've been asked or are maintaining, setting a Proxy server that is the book you must have. This the most and only complete reference on proxy server. A master piece by Ari Luotonen the co-developer of the first proxy server, the CERN Proxy and the Lead Engineer in the Netscape Proxy Server.
A good book on how-to to tune-it for the best performance on HP-UX 10.x and 11.x. Eventhough this more a book for sysadmins it is worth to have it if you ever encounter an HP-UX server in your life.

Well, when you started programming in C you bought Kernighan & Ritchie, I bet this one will the same "bible" for Java programming. There is an online pdf version available on Bruce's site.
I have had to buy 4 copies of this one, either someone pick it up on my desk and it nevers came back or while leaving a company people insisted on keeping the copy in the team ! Of course I have one at home. I always thought that this is the book that Bjarnes Stroustrup should have published instead of its complex and lengthy "C++ Programming Language".
From the review published in Dr. Dobb's Journal:<< The first edition is considered a classic. "Can I borrow your Stevens book?" is a common request. The new edition updates one third of the material with discussions about recent technologies, such as Posix threads and the IP Version 6 protocol (IPv6). Two future volumes promise to update interprocess communication and network applications. >>
